While we live in a Country that has declared gay marriage legal, there is still much to be learned from the video above. It infuriates me to think that in today's day and age we must still fight for equal, not greater...simply, equal rights. It infuriates me to think that there are laws in place that prevented Shane from finding anything out at all about his love's death. I cannot speak for him, so I cannot say whether Shane has found closure or not, but after the hate he had to endure merely a few days after Tom's death...I don't know how I would cope.
You must be missing half(or more) of your brain if you deny the love Shane and Tom shared, beautifully seen in their home-video clips. Some may say, why waste time fighting for a simple piece of paper? See, it's not just a simple piece of paper anymore, it's the life of two souls in love that we fight for. Denying someone the right to get married is denying them the right to live. God made us all in his image, and what gives the guy who loves the girl more rights than the guy who loves the guy? You tell me.
It's not enough for gay marriage to be legal in Canada, in Netherlands, in Belgium, in Spain, in South Africa, in Norway, in Sweden, in Argentina, in Portugal, in Iceland, in Brazil, and in Denmark. It is not enough! The good fight will be won when as a gay person you can cross any border and on a whim decide to elope with the love of theirlife. Then it will be enough.
